Question 7. what i have learned from the progression from the preliminary task to the full product

1A) Two Shot 1B) Two shot

Both 1A and 1B are shots which contain two people. 1A is a scene from our opening and this is where Japhet and Leonora are at the table. So here we have a two person shot were the audience can get a clear veiw of both of them at the dinner table, as this helps to set the scene for the romance in our romantic thriller. In shot 1B there is a two shot of Japhet and Leonora at the table finding out that she is pregnant. In shot 1B, there was not a lot of space, so we had to squeeze to try and get a perfect shot of both of them. However, for our title sequence we made use of space, and we got a clear shot of both characters.

2A) Match cut door 2B) Match cut door

Both 2A and 2B are match cuts of Leonora opening the door. We did not have a clue on how to do a match cut so we just tried and did what we thought was correct, as scene on shot 2B. We do not see Leonora opening the door straight away, instead there is a lengthy gap, that waste's time, then all of a sudden we see her entering the room. In comparison to our title sequence 2A, we see a clear match cut of her opening the door from the inside then walking out we had to makesure that it looked clear and cut there is would not be that obvious that it was filmed in two seperate shots.


3A) Feet 3B) Feet

Both 3A and 3B are shots of Leonora's feet as she is walking. The thing that we done good in both shots, is that we used the 360 degree rule and we did that to perfection. In 3A, we made good use of space and had her walking for about 5 seconds however, in 3B we did not use that much space,this was to be honest due to lack of space where we were infact filming. but in 3A during filming we used and had to make iuse of the space we had in order to make her walking dramatic thats why sound was added however also very mysterious and dramatic. but to set a thriller romance tone.




4A) Lighting 4A) Lighting

In shot 4A and 4B, we are focusing on the lighting. in 4b the lighting was very bright due to the fact it was film on college sit. so the lighting was bright but we thought that in factv it was perfect for the scene as we were talking about a serious topic. however in 3a the light was alot more dimmer due to the fact we had to set the scene for a romantic thriller but at this specific point it was a candle lit dinner so the lighting was very important. we also had to makesure that it wasnt to dim to film as we did not use extra lighting.

Question 5. the audience for your media product.

Leighanne Allen is a 17 year old girl who attends Brunel university. she has decided that she wants to study and become a crime scene investigator. this is because she enjoys the scene and thriller of finding out how crimes began and what lead to the crime actually happening. she enjoys going to the cinema and watching thrillers. at one point in time she thought about becoming a actress in only thriller films however she thought actually finding out the crimes and causes herself is better and alot more exciting and intresting.

her inspiration for becoming a crime scene investigator is csi. this is a short clip of a episode.

question 3 and 4 what kind of media institution might distribute our media product and why?

The video which we found on youtube was a Btec and media abduction. It had 470 views and two pages full of comments and responses of views to there opening one comment was "Really good". We think that this is the kind of response in which we will get due to the fact it is a low budget film and maybe the content of there film resulted in the comments which were made. but the fact that there film was actually noticed by people was useful due to the fact it was opening made by students, which such a low understanding of the film industry altogether however they still managed to do well. further more the internet helped in oder to launch this movie due to the fact it has become worldwide for others to see.therefore when other students come to do there work they would have found an example which could help or a inspiration for there work.

in comparison we have not yet decided to post out opening on youtube, but if we do we feel that maybe it would get a very good response from it viewers and probably have a lot of hits. our film had a cinematic screen down at the green screen

we also shared screening among peers and got there responses which you will see as you continue to go through our blog. We think the internet would be a good way to get our opening global and a good way of distribution and viewed by our desired market. hopefully we wish our opening could be viewed and reach our desired audience .

the reason which we are really happy and appreciative about the internet is due to the fact that before you had to be involved with a really big industry is due to the fact if you wanted your video on youtube that would be the only way in which you could get your video on there. and that would be the only way you could get a big screening. however now anyone can upload there video on youtube and get lots of hits. also most people become famous and known and also you do not know who could come across your video.

question 2- difference and similarities between two of our characters and two characters from a real film.

Leonor shala - our victim . leonora's ex boyfriends who lays in fear and tries to break free and the photo from the hostel the victims head in his hand. the two differences between these photos are for the simple facts that one photo does not actually contain the killer. and one of the victims have lost a body. one is male and one is female so from this we can see the simple facts that not only one sex is killed and both are in danger. one killers is out on the prowl outside and the other is being tied up and buried outside.

UNEXPECTED

Both characters have decided to capture there victims in two slighlty different ways. in hostel the man has his vicim tied up on a chair and looks as if he is going to torture him and them slaughter him.whereas in unexpected the physco just wants to burry him but with a twist and do it while he is alive.

Question 1 of Evalutaion-continued conventions of real media products.

whilst making our opening sequence we had to make sure that we followed the codes and conventions. as there are certain things in which we expect a thriller to contain which are suspense and thriller. however our opening in a different sense created suspense in a slow seductive way. instead of coming with a straight bang and giving the audience a quick thrill. we took our time in setting the tone and genre as we had shots which popped up which were set with a romantic theme, which makes the audience think that this is not a thriller at all. also in our opening we have a few close ups for example we had a close up shot of the characters holding hands however it seemed to set the kind of theme for the film well anyway thats what we wanted the audience to think anyway. whereas the sound throughout the opening i think was the biggest clue and give away in a way of what our film was about like for example, the way you can hear the footsteps s distinctive and clear.

we called our opening ' UNEXPECTED'. it is a romantic thriller. The red which we used helped to associate it with romance. how ever it also related the the thought of blood and death. finally the font is formal and mysterious.

Question 1 evaluation-conventions and real media products- Part One

The very first shot you see in the opening of our tittle sequence we saw is ' Candi studio's'. our college name is what we choose to use and then we split the colour between both of the words . Into the colours of our college id. so there was a realtion between us and our representation of our college in the opening.

the tittle of our film was 'Unexpected' where we also used red. the colour red has a lot of words which follow or that are thought of when the colour red comes to mind. like blood. our main character is a killer so it is as if our tittle and the colour represents the twist in which there is in the film .

Question 8) Audience feedback and comment

This is the green screen where we watched our title sequences.

This is an image of part of the audiences' reaction at the green screen. Annika of the left looks horrified, as she is braced up in her sit. Leonora in the middle, looks happy, as she saw herself on the big screen. Yolande on the right, looks confused.

As seen on our 'word cloud' made on wordle, we got positive feedback from our peers. We got feedback such as symbolic, psychological, and eye catching. Which was positive because this what we wanted our audience to think, so we were not really shocked about the feedback we received from our audience. We chose those colours for our word cloud, because we wanted colours that signified darkness, depression, death, and blood.

What we liked

As a group, we decided that we liked the soundtrack because we thought that it fits the genre, which is a romantic thriller. We liked the sound effects, we feel it creates suspense, the creeking of the door and the footsteps.

Problem

At 39 seconds, the audience are suppose to hear the natural sound, of the actor making noises. We decided as a group to cut the end, where she stabs him with the knife and, replace it with a lcose up of her face, giving a evil look. And we need to add the rest of the sound track and sound effects, and put on the credits.

we decied to shot a short film and this one was called ' Young Love' we took the basis of a normal film which was just a door being opened and zoomed in shots of feet. we added speech to it to make it more intresting and gave it a point and almost a moral.
we startedof the scene with a zoom in shot of leonora shala's hand then we had a long shot of her and what was behine her. we then had a shot reverse shot from japhet mesfin from his face to the door which showd his reaction to when it was being opened. then we had the door opening and only a shot of leonora's feet walking towards japhet at the table.we had match cut of her hands and then we began to hear her speech telling the audience in which she had the results for her test.we had a ecu ( extreme close up) of japhets face and his reaction. the scence then continued with leonora's speech and then a shot reverse shot to japhets speech and reaction. we then had a two shot,then scene then ended with comforting close which took place from japhet towards leonora .
in comparrison from this film to the card game practice i did not really do that much i just prompted and co directed and helped with ideas and angles of the camera. we had our two actors
leonora shala and japhet mesfin and our director sylvda shyllon.
finally i enjoyed making our match cut practice but there are still things in which we could learn or change in order to gain ideas for our real film.

News & Current Affairs Events

The Story Which i will be talking about is one in which i found in my local newpaper the metro. it is called.
'Boy complains that his red and black hero is now made to be a softy'
A boy of 8 has complained to the beano for making his hero ndennis the menace ,too nice.jacob rush pleaded with the comic's bosses to return to the spiky haired character to his naughty best after he was turned into a softy. he say's i don't like dennis becuase he does not have his catapault or water pistol anymore and he is not menacing enough. his father mark also wrote on behalf of his son it means to jacob that dennis is now boring. sadly the protest seems to have fallen on deaf ears and simply ignord. they receieved a reply saying the beano charcter has been brought into line with the cbbc tv series.
i personally think that they should of not changed the raw egde of dennis the meance. however simply left it how it was due to the fact that was simply what little children such a jacob went home looking forward to watching there little programmes and the difference from the cartoon charcters in comparrson to others. however if they make all the chanracters the smae and make them innocent simply there will be no excitment and plain old boredom for the youth of today.

we were told that we had to make a film which contained the props being a pack of cards . it was our decision of how we decided and wanted to make the cards. we decided that we were going to make a simple innocent card game mysterious and also scary we decided to use a range of shots and veiws in order to catch the audiences attention and then later add sound affects to create some sort of spooky theme.
we set out short film out into 15 shots. they were

• shot reverse shot reverse shot of the table and each time something was added to the table.
• panning of the room
• zooms in and out of the cards suddenly appearing of the table
• zooms in and out of the hands appearing on the table playing cards (boy & girl)
• cross cuts between a plain table,spinning chair and cards scaterred on the table

we shot each scene or shot serperately and put them all together in the end by using technical auditand added sound effects by using livetype and sound.

then there we had our own card game practice film.

The art of the tittle analysis of 9 shots

I Choose to Anaylise Kung Fu Panda
in the first scence screen one the is animation of a monkey running and climbing up clouds (dreams)
and swings the bamboo stick around and sits of the moon and as if the monkey was fishing it begins to reel in dream works animation skg.
the style of the tittles are

however the title of the film itself 'kung fu panda' is in fact widely spread and curves at the sides of certain letters. then the tittle begins to float and fade away as the film starts. behind the title is a orange sunset which helps the title to if almost stand out. the type of shots which are used in the title sequence are long shot of the panda then a match cut to a extreme close up of the panda.the the camera zooms out and then a cross cut is made to another seen.( of the fowes ) throughout the title scene there are lots of zooms in's & outs and over the shoulder shots. close up and medium shots. personally about the title sequence i like the beigning in the sense of the way the 'panda' is portrayed in the sense of he is seen as a super hero , a saviour as he does good and does not do no harm to those but saves them also i find it kind of funny to watch a panda fly.

“I can’t stress enough, neither the opening Dream Sequence of Kung Fu Panda nor the character animation in the End Credits contain any CG animation. It’s all 2D/traditional/hand-drawn.
The dream sequence was designed and laid-out at DreamWorks Animation under the direction of Jen Yuh Nelson with Production Designer Ramone Zibach and Art Director Tang Heng, who developed the sharp, high-contrast, highly-graphic, anime-influenced style. Once the backgrounds were complete, they were delivered to James Baxter Animation; everything from animation through compositing of the final shots.
James Baxter tackled the animation in unique ways. In one shot he would hand-draw the animation completely from start to finish, and in another he would do just a few drawings that were then digitally manipulated in After Effects. In addition, all effects animation consisted of traditional hand-drawn effects as well as digitally-manipulated elements from the original Photoshop files. Can you tell which is which? Being the master animator that Baxter is, the merging of the two is seamless. It helped keep the James Baxter Animation crew to only 12 people.

whenever you decided to create a tittle sequence you have to always think about the type of font in which you choose to use.

serif fonts-i.e times and courier
this font are genarally more traditional and often slighlty more formal than sans serif fonts.

sans serif fonts- i.e ariel and comic sans
these fonts are more informal and more morden and friendly.

Font Analysis
What does Palatino suggest when used in the promotion of pearl harbour?
i personally think that the capital letters,which are old fashioned echoes a telegram which makes it masculine and relates it to the war.the bold big capital letters stand tall and make the title look tall and lenghthy.the font is also patriachal in a way relates to war as it is a serious topic.

What does Franklin Gothic Heavy . Say about Rocky the title?
the title of rocky stands tall and bold there is nothing more to it and nothing less it is clear to see and easy to understand it is quick to recognise ( arial) . it is also very heavy and unintelligent and simply in your 'FACE'. finally it also has a big impact like punch and is very dominant . more masculine than feminine.

''micheal mann understands the power of a good title sequence and always commissions his own. for public enemies he wanted a font which evoked the depression era,so i got inspiration from publicity posters for roosevelts new deal intiative.it promoted economic relief after the 1929 wall street collapse. they are designed in a very constuctivist,soviet,communist style.my font is very solid,clearly masculine,immovable and it has some very specifically naive details,like the way the horizontal strokes are all slighlty too wide-we've have taken out the optical correction. if you look at the B' the holes in the middle are a little bit too small- they look like bullet holes-which is very apt''

This example will help my decision in being made for when it come to the size and colours and shape of our titles . so then we relate it to the point of out film as in the same way public enemies added small whole in there 'B' for bullets.
