Question 5) Who would be the audience for your media product?

Jessica, is 18 years old, she is currently studying criminology at the metropolitan university in London, as she wants to pursue a career as a criminologist. When she was younger, she wanted to be a famous actress, starring in a thriller films. She is working part time at Marks and Spencers. She enjoys inviting her friends to her flat to watch thriller and or horror films such as, Drag me to hell and Saw 6, which are one of her hobbies. She enjoys going clubbing and most of all enjoys going shopping especially at Uni Qlo and Top shop (especially for their handbags). Jessica cannot live without her handbags, and in them she has her, mobile phone, oyster card, purse, make up and, her lucky charm which was given to her from her grandmother who was a famous actress internationally starring in thriller films, before she passed away.

Question 8) Audience feedback and comment

This is the green screen where we watched our title sequences.

This is an image of part of the audiences' reaction at the green screen. Annika of the left looks horrified, as she is braced up in her sit. Leonora in the middle, looks happy, as she saw herself on the big screen. Yolande on the right, looks confused.

As seen on our 'word cloud' made on wordle, we got positive feedback from our peers. We got feedback such as symbolic, psychological, and eye catching. Which was positive because this what we wanted our audience to think, so we were not really shocked about the feedback we received from our audience. We chose those colours for our word cloud, because we wanted colours that signified darkness, depression, death, and blood.

Font Activity

In our Media lesson we analysed the font on the cover of 'Rocky Balboa'. We learnt why certain fonts are used for certain films.For this particular film, 'Sans Serif' was used. This including the boldness and size of the font could have represented masculinity.

Thriller sub genres

The sub genres which inspire me the most are action films, supernatural and the thriller suspense films.

With action films I enjoy the fast paced shots. The dramatic digetic and non-digetic sounds are very exciting. The story plots are interesting.

With thriller/suspense films, I enjoy the intense side of it. I like the fact that horror type of films are easy to understand and quite simple films really. The stories are generally not over worked and more of the focus lies in the sounds and shots. There are intentional fast paced and very slow paced scary moments which are exciting to watch.

The Shining

I found "The Shining's" title sequence the most appealing to me. The style of the titles were quite ordinary in that they were in an ordinary comic sans font. They were all positioned centrally moving upwards from the bottom of the scene. This detail shows us that it is a opening sequence rather than credits which you could quite easily muddle up. The writing was also in a baby blue colour which was interesting because it stood out on the screen and did not clash with any other colour.

The titles saying firstly the studio which created it. Then the main actors featured and then the executive producer and then the novel in which it was based upon. Then the company which it was produced in association with and then the people involved with this company. Then the people who wrote the screenplay. And then finally the person who produced and directed the film.

In this there are extreme far shots mainly used. The main focus is the setting in this sequence so the extreme far/wide shots allowed the much of the country setting to be in the shot. The was also a tracking shot through almost all of the sequence tracking the car driving.

The thing that appeals to me most about this sequence is the shots that are used. The wide shots of the scenery really stand out. Also the calmness of the shots and scenery really worked well with the sequence. The writing was big, bold and the letters were well spaced out and this made it clear and easy to read.
